Riverside living so close to the CBD

Where ever you live in Maylands you are not too far from the river, the perfect place for an active lifestyle. Close to the city, with lovely waterside parks to exercise or just enjoy the WA sunshine, Maylands is a peninsula suburb with a quirky history and lots of charm.

Up on the leafy upper hillsides you’ll find older homes with a blend of apartments, solid brick villas and individually designed late-century homes. Concentrated new development on the lower flatlands near the river includes impressive waterside mansions and rows of stylish new townhouses.

Maylands railway station provides easy access to the City centre and beyond, and a shared bicycle / pedestrian path links Maylands with neighbouring suburbs via the shoreline of the Swan River.

There is also a small yacht club and a golf course and the hugely popular Maylands Waterland, acknowledged as the premier outdoor water playground in WA. Beautiful wildflower gardens and lawns surround the four sparkling pools. The play equipment and barbecues make this a perfect setting for a family day out.

Whether you’re into golf, sailing, cycling or a stroll along the banks of the river, there is plenty to keep people who love an active lifestyle happy.  With plenty of activities to keep the children happy and the hustle and bustle of Whatley to keep the foodies contented, Maylands has something for everyone.

Maylands is an interesting demographic mix with 15.1% of residents under the age of 19 years of age. The largest group (78.8%) is predominantly working age (20- 64) and over 65 represent 10.1% of the population.

With so many lifestyle attributes, it’s not surprising that Maylands is popular with singles, with just over 40% of Maylands homes listed as occupied by single people, 25.5% are couples and 23.3% of households have children.

Primary Schools include the Maylands Peninsula Primary School (public) and Kids Open Learning School (private). For Public Secondary Schools, students attend either Mt Lawley Senior High School or John Forrest Senior High School in Morley depending upon which zone they fall into. Perth College in Mt Lawley, Chisholm College in Bedford , Trinity and Mercedes Colleges in Perth or Guildford Grammar in Guildford are the closest Private Secondary Schools and all are easily accessible via public transport.

Additional information

Affordability combined with proximity to the city, river and transport have made Maylands a popular choice with people who enjoy an active urban fringe lifestyle.

Locals and visitors love the Maylands Public Golf Course with its stunning City-Scape views. Located on the banks of the Swan River and set out on the former Old Perth (Maylands) Airport, this par 71 course has fresh water lakes and gentle undulations, making it both challenging and picturesque.

The train station just 5 stops from the CBD provides easy access to the city and beyond. There is also a large community centre housing the local library and sports facilities. With its own shopping centre and numerous cafes and boutique retail outlets, Maylands is also developing a boutique small bar culture. A shared bicycle/pedestrian path allows you to follow the shoreline of the Swan River all the way into Perth, stopping at various riverside parks along the way.
